Technology for the Blind to See with Desiree

Technology for the Blind to See with Desiree

In this exciting episode of the Gene and Dave show, we talk with Desiree Sturdevant about assistive technology. Desiree demonstrates the OrCam, which can read text and decipher objects for people who are blind. It can read bar codes, banknotes, do facial recognition, and identify colors. It clips to the stem of eye-glasses.

See it demonstrated at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Wl92D03uPk.

We also see a recap of technology called Audacity. This is free software Desiree uses to edit her music.

Show note: The OrCam Read won CES’ Best of Innovation Award in 2021.
